About the Innovation Radar

The Innovation Radar (IR) is an EC initiative focused on the identification of high potential innovations and the key innovators behind them in FP7, CIP and Horizon 2020 projects.  The Innovation Radar Tool is a data-driven online tool which provides easy access to innovations supported by EU funding and the innovators behind them. It is available via https://ec.europa.eu/innovation-radar or mobile apps.

The Innovation Radar tool was officially kicked-off by Commissioner Gabriel on the Digital Day 2018 in Brussels on the 10th of April 2018: “Europe has a great track record in developing new technologies and EU funding plays a major role. With the Innovation Radar we are launching today we not only want to showcase EU-funded innovations but also help innovators in key technologies such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity connect to other entrepreneurs and businesses, investors, incubators and accelerators to speed up their market entry and growth. I invite everyone to have a look at the exciting innovations the EU is funding.”

The launch also brought the signature of a commitment by different Member States divided on three main points:

  • Promoting the use of Innovation Radar by agencies for national and regional innovation, funding and support policies.
  • Connecting European and national innovators through Innovation Radar with investors at all relevant levels (i.e. EIB/EIF, regional development agencies, promotional banks, venture capital networks or business angels) in order to maximise funding opportunities for European tech entrepreneurs. This is also with a view to assisting more innovative startups in their ambition to become scale-ups and go on to be successful European showcases of tech entrepreneurship.
